Scoreboards for the iPad

Feedback

with 18 comments

I’ve received a great review for the Volleyball app and have no way to contact the person.  Hopefully the person that wrote that review is reading this now.

I appreciate the feedback and am now working on three things:

1. Automatically switching the serving arrow when team gets point

2. Allowing you to set the game point limit (and win by 2 setting) which will auto add to the games won

3. Putting all my apps on sale in the upcoming week

Hope you review version 1.0.2 when it comes out!

  1. I guess you don’t have a web site?? I can’t find out more info on the screen shot that you have posted.
It says you can use any iOS device as a remote, does that mean that another iOS device will be transmitted the score live from the score keeper? or can you change the score on a third party score board .
Third party would be best because it is large and I don’t think all the iOS fans in the audience will want to pay for the app just to see the score one time.
Lastly, can more than one iOS device pick up the score wirelessly?
    Thanks

    • Sorry, this is definitely a low budget operation.

Basically, the iPad is the visible scoreboard. It does NOT work with a third party scoreboard.

You can use a different iOS device to control the scoreboard visible on the iPad wirelessly. The only way to get a larger scoreboard would be to use AirPlay with a large TV or monitor.

More than one iOS device should work, but honestly, I haven’t actually tested it. It was written and designed to work as a remote and display (so 2 devices).

It is only 99 cents for a day or two more, so if you’re interested, you should purchase it soon. I hope I answered your questions!

  2. I can appreciate the low budget… I bought the app but I can’t find airplay.
The UI is going to be worry some for me, it seems like it would be easy to miss swipe if you are not right on top of the numbers. Switching serving sides is great.
See if you can find better way to create the buttons and if you can add a button click with two tones one for left, on for right.

    • To use AirPlay mirroring see this article: http://howto.cnet.com/8301-11310_39-20088644-285/mirror-ipad-2-on-your-tv-with-ios-5-airplay/

The numbers aren’t swipe activated. They are simple touch buttons, simply touch the top 2/3 of the number to increase the value or the bottom 1/3 of the number to decrease.

I do intend to add sound effects and more features (like custom color choices) in the future, but as it is the holiday season, time is a bit tight, but I like the suggestions and if you have anymore, please leave me more comments.

Or if you’d like to see a scoreboard of this style for a different sport, I’d be more than happy to make one for you and give you a free promo code to download it for free when it comes out!

      • Just my two cents but I would make the gesture allot clearer, I can see some situations where a referee could miss the top third of the button and all hell would break loose. Would it be possible to make a mode button that you could press in order to shift backwards? like a shift key of sorts.
Would also be cool if there were a cheap viewer app for your program so that lots of people could see the score. Crazy but I guess the fans wouldn’t be willing to pay more than a buck…maybe.
        I’ll vote. Thanks.

      • Looks like the airplay option is only available on the iPad, I can’t see too many fans bringing their iPads to a game. You need to get this option in your app, No one else has this.

    • Also, if you don’t mind, please review the app when you get a chance. Thanks!

  3. All great ideas. This is only the beginning…I wanted to hit this first milestone and get some feedback (which yours seems to confirm my ideas) and now I can move forward and try to make those things happen and for those that bought the early version, the updates will be the reward for early adopting. Thanks!

  4. I have just purchased the badminton scoreboard and would recommend some things to help it work better
    (a) the serving indicator should automatically switch depending on who won the point.
    (b) the game scoring should finish according to the rules I.e. at 21 by two clear points or on tie break the maximum of 30 .

I would like to receive a refund down to £0.69 as the software does not work as intended.

  5. Hi. I have the same suggestion as above that Leslie made.
Most inportant is to change the service indictor according to who won the point.
I also suggest that you give the option to change the names of the field serving and games to be able to customize it in local language.

  6. This is UW85. Honestly I can’t remember the suggestions I left you previously, but I just got an iPad so had to install this GREAT, simply and easy to use app. Well done – best .99 app out there! I see I can change the team name, add & subtract scores easily, plus the win by two. Well done.

    • Thanks again for your feedback, I just read your review and think its a good idea to be able to swap sides on the scoreboard, I’ll add that in the next revision. It definitely helps to know what people actually want so I don’t waste my time, so thanks for the suggestions.

  7. I have just purchase the volleyball scoreboard app.
maybe you could look into having multiple colors
for the team score or team names and/or both
    Thank you

  9. Love the volleyball app and use it weekly! Would it be possible to have a Bluetooth link to a pebble smartwatch? Saving the umpire holding on an iphone use the smartwatch on his/her wrist to change the iPad display.
Thank you for what is already a great app!

  10. I have purchased the volleyball apps, it’s simple and easy to use. However, I can’t see if there is switching of teams. We need to switch the teams after each set of the game as they change their court.
