Scoreboards for the iPad

Universal Scoreboard coming soon!

with 13 comments

Not sure why this wasn’t my first scoreboard, but I just uploaded a generic scoreboard which you can keep score of either a 2 or 4 player game.  Use it for card games, sports, whatever you want, it’s also only 99 cents!  Should hit the app store in 5-7 days.

  1. Hi, great app.

Our local club holds regular tournaments which are handicapped and start with minus scores, can your app do this, if not could you incorporate it, either by allowing scores to go negative, or typing in the start score.

One other point can you store the games scores to review later, this again would be a great option.

    • thanks for the comment! I will add the negative scores tonight, it takes about 5-7 days for Apple to release the update, but expect it very soon. I appreciate the feedback, let me know if you want any of my other apps and I’ll give you a promo code to download it for free.

Or if you have a specific game you would like to see a scoreboard for, please leave me a comment and I can create it and also give you a promo code.

As for storing scores, I have to think about how to do that properly, but I will definitely add that to my list of features. I do this on the side, so that would probably take me about a month to actually get into an update.

  2. Hello. Great app! I was wondering if there is a way to connect with two other remote devices instead of one only? I’m wanting to use this app for Olympic Taekwondo tournaments. Thank you!

    • Unfortunately, the code I copied off the internet only allows a single connection =) I have thought about this though and do want to make it so that there is a single host and multiple peers connected. I’ll investigate and post here if I can figure it out, probably won’t happen in the next month though, I am working on releasing another app now. Thanks for the feedback, it definitely helps to know what features people want and to hear that people are actually using it in real life.

  3. Is there any possibility to control the scoreboard with a universal bluetooth remote? e.g. not with an ipod/iphone? I use scoreboards for keeping stats in practices (made shots/missed shots, etc.) and it would be great if I could use an apple remote, universal remote, etc to control the score. e.g. hit the + or – button. The reason is that a coach can “feel” the button and “watch” the play. It is very difficult to coach and look down to make sure you hit the correct area on a touch screen.

  4. OK: I’ve done some research on my own and might have found a solution to controlling the scoreboard via a hard remote (non-IOS device). If the scoreboard features could be controlled by keyboard keys, e.g. + up arrow for plus point – or down arrow for minus point, any mini bluetooth keyboard such as the ProMini could be used to control the scoreboard. This would be a great feature! What would be really great would be to allow the user to customize which key controls which function.

Here is a mini keyboard on amazon for about $20

    • Hi downloaded the app. thx for adding in the negative scores. i will say the swiping method used is very unresponsive sometimes no matter which way i swipe it keeps adding to the score i cannot get it to subtract. there are also no on screen instructions. keep up the good work many thx mark curtlin

      • Hi, the app isn’t a swipe app. Tap the bottom 1/3 to subtract and top 2/3 of the number to add. Now that you have mentioned this, I want to add a swipe gesture so you don’t have to look at the number to add/subtract. My next update will have the following:

Swipe up/down in the left half to add/subtract from team on left. Swipe up/down on the right half to add/subtract from the team on the right. Thanks for the idea! This should also avoid the need for the bluetooth keyboard.

I also want to create a help screen, but I really wanted to make the app so simple that you didn’t need it, but I do understand the controls aren’t necessarily logical.

  5. Hi… Is there any chance you can include a colour edit feature so we can change the colour of the text and background? Regards Matt

    • Hi Matt,
I’ve been wanting to add this feature for a while now, but haven’t had much of a chance to work on it. When I originally wrote it, making a color picker wasn’t all that simple, but maybe now there are resources out there that I can use, I’ll see what I can do. Thanks for your feedback.

  6. Hi there. I have the volleyball version of this scoreboard, and it worked great until iOS 7. Any chance for an app update. Does the universal one work on iOS 7?

  7. Can’t get iPad to pair to iPhone to use remote scoring feature. Keep getting “connection lost” before it even connects. Please help.
